A Comfort-able Weekend: Hill Country Distillers, Newsom Vineyards, and Firehouse Fare.

If you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram stories you’ll know that this past weekend I decided to venture a little further up into the Hill Country to explore some of the tastes of Comfort, TX. I woke my boyfriend up (too early for his liking) and dragged him out of the house so that we could make our short migration 20 minutes up to Comfort. Since I was making him get up early on a weekend morning I wanted to take him somewhere he would enjoy, so we headed straight to Hill Country Distillers.

We pulled up and found plenty of parking available and wandered inside of the Hill Country Distillers tasting room. We waited only a moment and were assisted by one of the friendly bar staff. Tastings are free and once you are done you are able to go into the next room and purchase a mixed drink featuring the spirits you just experienced. Our tasting went from the highest proof to the lowest, fair warning the first one packs a punch!

I can honestly say there is not one that I did not like but I have to say that my absolute favorite was the Dulce a coffee liqueur. I decided to go with the staff recommendation and order a Bushwacker which is aptly described as an adult milkshake.. and also ordered a few others as well.

I think it will go perfectly in my Saturday morning coffee to give me a little extra pep-in-my-step for the weekend! I learned that they are pet friendly as well and if your furry friend needs a break, they even have a small fenced in kennel area outside for your pooch!

Once we finished our drinks and purchased a branded copper mug (for use later), we wandered outside and grabbed some grub at the Firehouse Fare food truck stationed just outside the tasting room. I ordered the chicken sandwich and sat down to enjoy the nice weather.

Once I was no longer in a food coma from my sandwich I went next door to the Newsom Vineyards tasting room.

Tastings are $5 per person and offer a selection of 4 different wines. My favorite was their 2015 Orange Muscat and I purchased two bottles which I intend to enjoy over the next week or two.

If you are looking for a great date night/afternoon activity or a girls day out I highly recommend checking out the Comfort area your significant other and experience, some great food, wine, and liquor!

Something to Note:

*You cannot purchase bottles at Hill Country Distillers on Sundays (darn those pesky Texas laws!) but you CAN still purchase individual drinks at their bar.
