Merry Christmas y’all! I hope you’re having an amazing day with family and friends!
I recently took some holiday photos at the Flower Vault in San Antonio. Their locations close December 31st so don’t miss out!

Boerne Bier Fest opened to chilly temperatures but excited visitors. The event was one of the most well run events that’s taken place on the square. Check in was speedy, almost zero wait times for bathrooms and beer, and everyone could move around without being encumbered by other guests. It’s a fantastic celebration of German brew culture, and showcased Boerne’s personality …and of course had great beer!
Bier Fest visitors braved the chilly Spring weather to taste some of the available brews.
Had to start with two of my favorite local Boerne breweries Cibolo Creek Brewing Company and Boerne Brewery. These two are my go to beers in the Boerne area.
ALAMO Beer had my favorite new IPA.
Lorelei Brewing Company is my pick for the most beautiful artwork. I’m a sucker for mermaids! Rough Diamond Brewery was one of my absolute favorite finds of the event. They’re open now and will be having all kinds of new and exciting events at their tasting room!
Tusculum Brewing Co. provided heaters and hot coco to Bier Fest attendees and showcased what will go into their new Brewhaus once it’s open.
They also offered chicken bingo which brought quite a few laughs to the event.
I happened to win the first round of chicken bingo. Lucky number 13!
The Beer Hoisting Contest proved to be a very entertaining affair. Men and women competed against each other and the clock to see who should be victorious!
Special shout out to Freetail Beer because they’re always so awesome!
Boerne Bier Fest proceeds go to the Hill Country Council for the Arts, which chooses different arts organizations to benefit from the funds raised every year.
Attending Bier Fest was a great way to get out and support our local arts community and have a fun day discovering new favorite local beers!
The festival will definitely secure a place as the best beer festival in Boerne.
Last night I attended Dulce! an event hosted by the San Antonio Current. The ever showcases the amazing sweet treats and drinks that local confectionaries, bakeries, distilleries, and restaurants have to offer.
I had the opportunity to attend the event as a VIP which of course came with some great perks. In addition to being able to enter the event an hour early, VIP’s had our own lounge area on the 3rd floor.
The VIP lounge had additional tables of treats set up as well as some additional swag throughout the event. The Dulce mug and the Stillhouse enamel pin were some of my favorite gifts of the evening.
One of the other incredibly cool items I received was provided by Guinness, one of Dulce’s sponsors. Guinness set about creating custom etched glasses for each VIP, I decided that I would have Boerne Blonde engraved into mine, and I have to say it came out great.
On the main floor every corner was filled with sweet treats that flowed outside to the courtyard and the back patio overlooking the River Walk.
Special shout out to Stillhouse for gifting me a super cute enamel pin, and to the owners of Summer Moon Coffee Bar for fueling my caffeine needs with their spiked Winter Moon!
Dulce! San Antonio was completely as promised, a night of decadence and delights. I cannot wait for next year to see all of the amazing new tasty experience our local eateries have to offer!
Every year on Thanksgiving weekend one of my absolute favorite things to do is attend Dickens on Main. Main Street is blocked off from traffic, and a festive holiday celebration ensues.
There are lights on every shop, vendors with amazing food (my favorite is still the roasted candied nuts), shows, and all kinds of other holiday themed entertainment.
I hope that you got the chance to visit Boerne and attend this amazing event! If you missed it, don’t worry there is still holiday cheer to be had! The Weihnachts Parade is coming this weekend on Saturday December 2nd! You can come up and experience more Hill Country Christmas cheer and have start off this years holiday season right! It’s also the perfect opportunity to shop locally for any Christmas presents you still need!
I finally had the chance to check out The Rustic this morning. My SO and I headed down to The Rim at La Canterra to get out brunch on at The Rustic’s Jam and Toast Brunch.
Several waitstaff greatest us upon our arrival and when we were seated Mercy our waitress gave us the lowdown on the menu and told me about the amazing Pumpkin Spice Margarita, that of course you know I had to try!
The best part about brunch at The Rustic is that you you don’t have to settle for sweet or savory, you get to try a little bit of everything… and everything is to die for!
Their bacon is probably the best I’ve ever had and may very well change your life!
The Rustic’s Jam and Toast Brunch runs on Saturdays and Sundays from 10-2 with live music starting at 12:30. If you are member of the military, or are a first responder you also get 25% (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
The Rustic is certainly the epitome of Texas chic and might just be my new go-to brunch spot in town!
Looking for the Mexican pastries on the Hill Country Mile to satisfy your sweet tooth? Stop by Joaquin’s Panaderia to satisfy your craving! I cannot tell you how happy I was to learn I didn’t have to drive all the way into San Antonio in order to get delicious Mexican sweet bread!
Restaurant Week is upon us! Running August 12th – 26th, Culinaria’s Restaurant Week has now extended its’ reach into past San Antonio and into the Hill Country, highlighting some of the amazing cuisine in the Boerne and New Braunfels.
While only a few restaurants near the Boerne area participated in Restaurant Week last year, this is the first time Boerne and New Braunfels have had their own official presence with Culinaria, cementing their places as jewels of the Hill Country dining arena.
For those of you unfamiliar with Culinaria’s restaurant week, here is how it works:
There is a pre- fixe menu for each restaurant participating, and is broken down into two tiers.
Boerne Restaurant Week: Tier 1: Lunch is $15 and Dinner is $35, Tier 2: Lunch is $10 and Dinner is $25.
New Braunfels Restaurant Week: Tier 1: Lunch is $15 and Dinner is $35, Tier 2: Lunch is $10 and Dinner is $25.
San Antonio Restaurant Week: Tier 1: $15 lunch and $35 dinner, Tier 2: $10 lunch and $25 dinner
Each participating restaurant donates $1 for lunch and $2 for dinner to Culinaria for programs that promote the restaurant community and funding for education.
Follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat to see what places I’m visiting.

I recently had the opportunity to visit BlackBoard BBQ owned and operated by Chef Jake and Chef Jo. This brand new barbecue spot brings traditional Texas taste with a twist to the Boerne area.
The beautiful blackboard art brings a touch of whimsey to the charming country decor.
Talk to Jake and Jo about their menu for 5 minutes and you can tell how much thought and love have been poured into every morsel. There are all kinds of surprises on the menu. My favorite hands down are the Luckenbach Lollipops aka quail legs followed closely by the 1/2 rack of ribs!
Go check out BlackBoard BBQ for fresh air, great food, and some good old Hill Country fun!
This past Thursday I attended the Evenings On The Edge pool party series at La Cantera Resort & Spa on the Topaz Pool deck. This 21+ adults only pool party is the perfect way to spend a summer Thursday evening and to jump start you weekend wind down.
Each summer Thursday evening features a different non profit or charity, to which a portion of your ticket sale is donated. You know that you get to do some good for the community while you party this summer!
Make sure you show up and show out in your best summer chic attire!
I relaxed by the infinity pool and enjoyed breathtaking views of the Hill Country.
This is definitely a party you don’t want to miss!
If you picked up this week's edition of Hill Country Weekly you will have seen my piece on Hill Country Food Tours. I thought I would share a few more photos of what we ate on the tour and give you a more colorful view of my experience.
A HUGE thank you again to Hill Country Food Tours and Hill Country Weekly for allowing me to share my thoughts and experience on this new addition to the Boerne Hill Country Mile!
